Which rod do you need?

High-yield and TMT bars are ribbed, so they grip the concrete and carry the main structural load. Mild steel rounds are smooth and softer, which makes them easy to bend into stirrups, links and ties, but they should never stand in for high-yield bar as main reinforcement. Check the weight, not just the count
Underweight rod is the commonest way buyers lose money on steel. Full-weight bar has a standard mass per metre that you can check on site: the diameter in millimetres, squared, then divided by 162, gives kilogrammes per metre.

Weigh a few lengths from a bundle. If they come in well under these figures, the bar is underweight, whatever the tag says.

Delivery is free within our Lagos service area, which covers Satellite Town, Ikorodu, Lekki, Ikeja, Victoria Island, Ajah, Epe and Yaba. Outside it, delivery is quoted per project. Common questions
Should I buy rebar or TMT?
Both are 500 N/mm² high-yield bar. TMT (thermo-mechanically treated) bar is specified for demanding structural and seismic work and carries a premium, so use it where your engineer calls for it.
What length do rods come in?
Reinforcement bar in Nigeria is supplied in 12 metre lengths, often called a full length.
Why do iron rod prices change so often?
