Questions about face bricks
Do face bricks really need no plastering?
That is the whole point of them. The finish is the wall, so you skip rendering and painting entirely. What you save on plaster, labour and repainting every few years is what pays for the brick.
Will the colour fade?
They are produced in consistent colour and texture batches, which is why we ask you to order the full quantity in one go. Mixing batches from different runs is where colour differences show up on a wall.
Are they more expensive overall?
Higher per unit, lower over the life of the wall. There is no rendering, no painting and no repainting. At 20 N per square millimetre you are also getting a genuinely strong unit, not just a pretty one.
What size are they?
215 by 102 by 65 millimetres, the standard brick format, so roughly 60 bricks for each square metre of single skin wall once you allow for joints. Send us your elevations and we will do the count.
