Questions about the 4 inch block
What is a 4 inch block actually for?
Internal partitions and non load bearing walls, plus boundary infill. It carries its own weight and the plaster on it, nothing more. Anywhere a wall is holding up a slab or a roof, step up to 6 inch or 9 inch.
Can I use 4 inch for an external wall?
We would not advise it. At 3.5 N per square millimetre a 4 inch block is made for partitions, not for weather and load. For external walls the 9 inch block is what your builder will expect to see.
How many do I need per square metre?
The block face is 450 by 225 millimetres, which works out at about 10 blocks for every square metre of wall once mortar joints are counted, before you add anything for breakage. Send us your wall measurements and we will do the count with you.
What is the minimum order and how fast can I get it?
From a few hundred blocks upward. Common sizes are in continuous production so they usually move quickly, and you get a firm delivery date on your price before you pay anything.
